Encouraged to include

Officer Senior Football Club President Barry (Baz) O’Loughlin is this year’s winner of Cardinia Shire’s All-Rounder Local Hero award.
The award is part of the Together We Can initiative which is aimed at ending family violence in the shire.
This was the award brief: “Do you have a person at your local sporting club who encourages females to take part in sport, fosters respectful relationships, and helps create a safe and happy experience for women and children both on and off the field?”
Mr O’Loughlin was nominated by local football player Stephanie Sherer.
“From day one Baz has always encouraged us, had our back and always pushed for the best for us.
“Not only encouraging us in football, but also pushing to have us as a vital welcomed part of the club and taking on the role as president for one more year just to see us thrive and to present us to the rest of the Officer family.
“I’m forever thankful for what he has given to us girls – time, money and passion. Thanks Baz,” Ms Sherer said.
Visitors are invited to come down to the Officer Football Oval on Friday 21 July at 7pm to support Barry as he is presented with a $300 Coles Myer voucher and a $1000 grant from the mayor to the club to build more safe, inclusive and respectful cultures.
