Dancers from Beaconhills College’s Berwick Campus have earned three gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the Dance Star and Glee competition which was held last weekend on the Gold Coast.
It was the fourth national title for Beaconhills in the ‘secondary lyrical/contemporary large team’ section, with dance troupe Black Swans placing first.
Year 12 student Holly Neale also won the ‘secondary senior slow tempo solo’, earning the top score of the day.
Ruby Thornton-Mackay, Year 7, took the title in the ‘secondary junior slow tempo solo’ section.
Proud dance teacher Stephanie Borrie said the dancers and singers had all worked incredibly hard to get to such a high standard.
“They rehearse one evening and one early morning a week plus selected lunch times. It’s a big commitment to the college and I am so proud of them,” she said.
“Watching them perform makes all the hours and stress worthwhile and winning a national title is a bonus.
“These students are truly talented and have incredible attitudes.”
