It’s a toss-up between The Shipping News by Annie Preoulx and Cloudstreet by Tim Winton. I was inspired to read The Shipping News by my dad and it has some funny moments about working for a newspaper. Cloudstreet is an Australian classic by a brilliant writer.

The Good, The Bad and the Unlikely – Australia’s Prime Ministers by Mungo MacCallum. I picked this one up in the op shop recently and it’s a great read – written by a real character of the Canberra Press Gallery. The anecdotes from George Reid are hilarious.
