Encouraging people to grow Australian plants was the goal of the plant sale held by the Wilson Park Berwick branch of the Australian Plants Society.
The sale was held at Wilson Park recently with numerous growers displaying a wonderful range of plants from easy to grow to special grafted plants.
In spring the surrounding district glows with the wattle (Acacia) bushes that range in colour from pale to bright yellow flowers.
Acacias can be chosen to provide flowers for most of the year.
Grevilleas are always popular and a wide range was available at the plant sale.
Many Australian plants have species that can be chosen to suit any height, condition and time of flowering throughout the year.
With many hybrids being developed, they are often easier to grow with more stunning flowers.
Small plant varieties were also available to cater for housing developments with restricted garden areas.
Many APS groups and nurseries have plant sales in spring so residents can make their choices and plant now.
Information on Australian plants is available from nurseries and websites dedicated to the promotion and use of Australian plants.
