Berwick Chase Primary School’s Grade 5 and 6 students can look forward to a bumper graduation ceremony thanks to a successful Mad Day fund-raiser.
The fund-raiser, held on 12 September as a part of the economics and business program, saw senior students sell lollies, cakes, drinks, gifts, activities, toys, games, books, swap cards, run games, activities, hair salons, face painting or whatever they decided, to raise money for their upcoming graduations.
Grade 5-6 teacher and co-ordinator Melissa Henwood said the day was very successful.
“It was amazing, we raised $7424.70, far supressing last year’s total of $4800,” Ms Henwood said.
She said there was an “amazing buzz” around the school on the day, with music cranking and many positive comments.
The money raised will be split in half for the Grade 5s and 6s to go towards paying for their Grade 6 graduations for 2017 and 2018.
The school will host Mad Day every two years to fund the upcoming graduations.
