Wealth of generosity for child surgery

Fifty-five local ladies gathered for a good time and to support a good cause at the Casey Wealth Advisers Annual Ladies Luncheon at EightyOne Tapas Bar and Restaurant in Berwick on Saturday.
They managed to raise more than $8000 for the Melbourne-based Children First Foundation – a not-for-profit charity that brings children from developing countries to Australia for surgery which is not available in their own countries.
Children First also supports disabled or chronically ill children in Australia by providing the “gap” funding for equipment and services.
It receives no government funding and so relies on the generosity of donors.
It was the eighth annual event to date and the sixth year of raising money for Children First.
Foundation CEO Elizabeth Lodge and communications and media manager Julie Webber were guests at the lunch.
Elizabeth made a short presentation before lunch and introduced a video which showed four of the children who have had life changing surgery thanks to Children First and are now back in their home countries living productive, happy lives.
Elizabeth also presented hosts Lisa O’Sullivan and Haley Dore with a Certificate of Appreciation from the foundation.
Casey Wealth Advisers is a financial planning practice owned by Ms O’Sullivan and Peter Cousins.
It has been operating in the Berwick and Pakenham areas since 2001.
