Five people have been nabbed by the Cardinia Highway Patrol after allegedly taking part in a burnout event in Clyde North.

Two 24-year-old men and a 19-year-old man, all from Pakenham, a 22-year-old Clyde North woman and a 22-year-old Watchem man, from the state’s north-west, were recently interviewed in relation to the August event.

Victoria Police will allege the group of drivers performed burnouts across Tuckers Road just before 9pm on 30 August.

All men are expected to be charged on summons with driving a motor vehicle causing a loss of traction.

The woman was interviewed but was released without charge, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

All five people were slapped with a $1652 fine, after they were found to be in breach of the Chief Health Officer’s directives, when allegedly committing the offences.

As part of Operation Tucker, detectives will continue to investigate further drivers that may have been involved in the high risk driving.

Cardinia Highway Patrol sergeant Paul Holtzinger said his unit were committed to identifying and holding to account drivers who decided to engage in high risk activity.

“Performing burnouts anywhere is not acceptable, let alone in a residential area,” Sgt Holtzinger said.

“It puts drivers, their passengers and members of the community at risk of serious injury.”

Anyone with information in relation to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
