Pakenham Consolidated School students and staff came to school dressed as their favourite characters in celebration of Book Week on Thursday.

From superheros and fairies to Dr. Suess characters, the school’s morning assembly turned into a parade of creativity and colour.

“Obviously we’ve got a big push on literacy and reading at the moment,” Pakenham Consolidated School assistant principal Colin Price said.

“It was a good community event. All the parents and grandparents love seeing their children all dressed up and it gets the kids focused on books and reading.

“We had a big parade in the morning and fun activities throughout the day.”

Activities during the day consisted on making face masks, hats and reading the stories they love to read.
