The best shows always start with a bang, and the opening night of the Art Show Pakenham is set to do just that – with an interactive digital art project looking to kick things off in style.

Talented multi-media specialist Homie will enthrall audiences and transform the Cardinia Cultural Centre at the show’s opening night on Friday 28 May with his monochromatic art projection, which will set a hypnotic backdrop for the highly anticipated Wearable Art Parade.

Working with visual effects, video production and projection mapping, Homie’s projection, titled ‘Unfurl’, is a form of interactive art and will be reactive to movement on the night – creating a stunning display that will morph as the models in the Wearable Art Parade present their colourful attire.

The black and white linework of Homie’s installation is set to provide a stark contrast to the colourful garments in the parade, and the audience should be in for a real treat as both traditional and contemporary arts combine.

“‘Unfurl’ keeps in mind the theme ‘Equivocal’, as the nature of the work remains uncertain while giving occasional glimpses of the familiar silhouettes of our bodies,” Homie said.

Having completed his master of animation, games, and interactivity at RMIT University and currently working as the Cardinia Shire Council’s multimedia officer, Homie clearly has the skills and experience to make this night one like no other, and the artist said he was looking forward to the big reveal.

Art Show Pakenham event coordinator, Jillian Ronald, said that she and the team were also excited to see the end results.

“We are very excited to have this opportunity to work with Homie,” Ms Ronald said.

“It will make opening night something special and I encourage everyone to come and experience this.

The Wearable Art Parade and the Equivocal Room work in synergy to create an event where art is creative and contemporary.”

The Art Show Pakenham will run for a further two weekends after opening night, from Saturday 29 May until Sunday 6 June and will feature over 300 artworks for viewing and sale.
