Q and A with Debra Papworth

Get to know Debra Papworth.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

As a child I always wanted a horse but was not allowed and my own children were not interested in doing anything with horses, so I decided to pursue it myself so started having lessons at the age of 50. I am now 62.

What are you most passionate about?

Injustice and inequality – everybody should be entitled to have a fair go, I hate discrimination.

What do you love about Pakenham?

The diversity of the geography.

What would your last meal be?

A Caesar salad and a glass of white wine.

What was your most memorable moment?

Watching Liza Minnelli in Cabaret at Trump Plaza drinking Dom Perignon, it was very wow!

What was your favourite subject in school?

Craft.

What event past or present would you like to witness?

The dressage in Paris at the next Olympics.

Which six dinner guests, dead or alive, would you invite to dinner?

People who have inspired me this year- Christine Holgate, Julia Gillard, Julia Banks, Dan Andrews, Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester.

What are you currently listening to/watching or reading?

Listening to the new ABBA album.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

Classic.

Have you had a pet that has made an impact on your life?

My pet horse rules our lives. I bred him and now learning to ride him in the discipline of dressage.

If you had to compete on MasterChef, what dish would you cook?

Four egg sponge cake with cream and fresh passionfruit icing.

Where is your dream holiday destination?

Europe.

What were you like as a kid?

Demonised with insecurities.

What is your favourite colour and why?

Black – because it looks good and goes with everything.
