Three… Aussie teams to cheer on at the Commonwealth Games

Amy Lawton, originally of Emerald, is competing for the Hockeyroos.

1. Kookaburras and Hockeyroos

Australia has had a formidable record in hockey at the Commonwealth Games since the sport was introduced in 1998. The Kookaburras have won all six gold medals on offer in the men’s competition, while the Hockeyroos have won four gold, one silver and a bronze.

Emerald’s Amy Lawton is competing in the Hockeyroos side, so even more incentive to tune in and watch!

2. Australian Diving Team

At the last edition of the Commonwealth Games, Australia picked up 11 medals in diving events, enough to top the medal table. Seven Aussie divers make their Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham including Charli Petrov, the youngest member of the 433-strong Australian Team.

3. The Diamonds

Under the directive of head coach Stacey Marinkovich, the Australian Netball Team will look to reclaim supremacy in the Commonwealth with their fourth gold medal after the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games saw the team go down to England by a minuscule goal in the gold medal match.
