ONE of Harkaway’s premier gardens will open to the public next weekend.
Owner and landscape designer Jhodie Goy will open the gates to Harfield, on the corner of Harkaway and Boundary roads, as part of the Open Garden Scheme.
The garden features extensive lawns, treed avenues, a wisteria archway and a frog pond.
Over the past decade Jhodie has developed a broad palette of perennials and flowering shrubs that thrive with minimal water.
Two pear walks are among the avenues of trees that add definition to the garden and lead visitors to open areas, the henhouse and orchard.
Plants will be available for sale, Jhodie’s son will give talks on frogs in gardens and water plants, and the Red Cross will be providing refreshments.
Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic.
Harfield will be open 10am – 4.30pm on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January. Entry is $6, children under 18 free.
