Good outcomes

GOOD outcomes were seen in all categories in the Wednesday Fat Cattle Sale at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, last week with all recording a rise be it minor or reasonable.
A total of 857 head were yarded with veal making up 70 per cent of the offerings.
One hundred and ten bullocks were sold and saw their average rise three cents to 152.2 cents with a price range from 136.2 cents to 158.6 cents and, as can be seen, most sold to the higher rates.
Eighty five heifers also recorded a three cent lift in price average to 144.5 cents.
Quality was excellent and, considering the prices of late, the top of 160 cents was very good.
Lower quality heifers saw the average being at 100 cents.
Only 54 steers were penned with several pen lots of dairy cross on offer. Steers ranged from 116 cents to 168 cents.
Six hundred and six vealers remained firm on last week and also managed a one cent rise on average.
Heavy veal ranged in price from 104 cents to 197.6 cents and the light sub 300 kilogram veal made from 113.6 cents to 186.6 cents.
Bull prices made a good forward step on Thursday rising 10 cents on last sale to an average of 132.7 cents with one agent supplying 22 bulls from one vendor alone.
Bulls made from 106 cents to 144.6 cents.
Three hundred and six cows sold to recent requirements and maintained the average of 112 cents, with no light cows penned range was from 65 cents to 143.6 cents.
