Lewis’ ton keeps Goon in the fray

AFTER setting Lyndhurst 185 last week, Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll D Grade lost a couple of early wickets to be 2/28. Then Ash Jensen and Mick Lewis put on 50 for the third wicket, before Ash fell for 27.
Geoff Ball joined Mick Lewis and after a scratchy start put on 143 for the fourth wicket before falling for 76. Mick Lewis brought up a well-made century before falling for 105.
The Goon consolidated second spot on the ladder with a solid 97-run win.

The Marygoons recorded a resounding 179-run first innings win over Gembrook. The game was played in very good spirits by both teams. Best performers for the Marygoons were Ash Bailey with 86 runs, Damon Hansen 35 and several batsmen making scores in the 20s, for a team total of 272. Bowling on the second day the Marygoons got on top early and didn’t give the Gembrook batsmen too many free hits, bowling the opposition out for 93. The bowlers were led by Ash Bailey 3/15, Shaun McGrath 3/42 and Will Evans 2/3.
Asking the Gembrook team to follow on, the Marygoons fell four wickets short in the quest for outright points.
Good performances by the bowlers were Will Evans 3/42 with good support from the field.
