PAKENHAM’S Meg Doherty will next month return home to where it all began for a free gig with a brother duo from Tasmania.
Meg, 27, who was one half of popular Pakenham duo Ginja Roe, will perform a show at the Pakenham Railway Hotel on 21 February.
It has been about three or four years since Meg performed at the Pakenham watering hole, where she played her first gig in 2004.
“We’re just hoping to get all the old punters back in that used to come and see us,” she said.
Meg has joined forces with Tom and Nick Wolfe from Tasmania, who she met in Tamworth in 2005, to create a “country rock feel with a lot of soul”.
Meg said she hit it off with the brothers and collaboration worked well, so they embarked on a successful tour in November last year, which they will now bring to Victoria.
“I find that the boys add a very real and exciting vibe to my original music, while they have some amazing tunes of their own. It’s a win-win.”
Meg plans to record her third country rock album later this year with the brothers.
She will perform with the Wolfe brothers and also Matt Borg and Casey Kostiuk at the Pakenham Railway Hotel from 3pm to 6pm on 21 February.
Gigs are also lined up in Richmond and St Kilda before the Pakenham show.
