PAKENHAM Angling Club held a successful outing on Sunday, 24 January, on Westernport, with the target being King George Whiting. Early in the day, the wind made the sea quite choppy. However, the weather calmed resulting in beautiful fishing conditions, with members catching a total of 51 whiting for the day.
A couple of the anglers got caught up in the congestion of boats at the popular, but inadequate, boat ramp at Warneet, and did not make it back to the weigh-in on time!
Both the heaviest and second-heaviest fish were won by the master whiting fisherman, Jos Schreurs, who also caught his bag limit, and secret weight by Neville Clark.
Next meeting of the club will be held at 7.30pm, on Wednesday 17 February at Pakenham Senior Citizens rooms, James St, Pakenham. All interested anglers are welcome to attend. For further information contact Jason on 5997 1989.
