Lessons of Kokoda

By Madeline Prince
TWO local students will have the opportunity of a lifetime to walk the Kokoda Track after winning the annual Harold Bould award on the 27 January.
“They had to submit an essay on what the Kokoda campaign means to Australia,” Eastern Victoria Region MP Edward O’Donohue who fundraises for the event said.
The award was founded to commemorate Mr Bould who was in the 39th Battalion in World War II and died while on the Kokoda Track fighting the Japanese.
Representatives of the 39th Battalion, Alan Jameson, Margot Kimpton and Geoff Pledge were present at the ceremony to give the awards to Lauren Harrison from Kooweerup secondary and Liam Trigg from Beaconhills College.
Mr O’Donohue described the presentation day as “a great day”.
