Prices settle but still rise

THE Fat Cattle sale at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange last Wednesday saw prices settle down slightly with values firm to higher.
A good quality yarding of 617 vealers saw the top price rise to 206.6 cents.
Eighty five bullocks rose three cents on average to 148 cents and made from 123.6 cents to 161 cents.
Thirty nine heifers rose five cents to 139.4 cents with a range of 102.2 cents to 175 cents.
Eighty one steers made a small improvement to 149.9 cents with a good range of 117.2 cents to 166 cents.
Six hundred and seventeen vealers saw heavy veal range from 100 cents to 206.6 cents and light 119.2 cents to 190.2 cents to average 158.9 cents which was steady on the previous week.
Cows rose two cents on Thursday to 109.8 cents for 329 head yarded. The top cow made to 135 cents.
Fifteen bulls made to 144.6 cents and averaged 126.8 cents, firm on last sale, a smaller yarding of bullocks made an average of 132.2 cents to reach 135 cents.
