Shire says no to gaming venue

THE CARDINIA Shire Council has confirmed its position against the Pink Hill development in Beaconsfield, this week backing a submission against the proposal to the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation (VCGR).
Councillors unanimously voted to formally adopt the submission prepared by Best Hooper Solicitors to the commission to oppose the gaming application for the Pink Hill Hotel, proposed for 13 May Road, Beaconsfield.
An application to the commission is listed for hearing and a submission has been prepared to oppose the application.
Council officers considered that formal adoption would add weight to the submission and assist the council’s case to oppose the application.
