CARDINIA Shire business owners were treated to 20 insider tips for a successful business when Flight Centre co-founder Geoff Harris spoke at the February Cardinia Business Breakfast last week.
Mr Harris, who has enjoyed the fruits of success after turning a $3000 investment in Flight Centre in 1981 into a million-dollar company, gave 20 tips to eager traders at the breakfast.
Some of the tips included making yourself completely accessible to staff, spending equal time on planning and execution of business strategies and setting short-term and long-term goals.
Mr Harris has recently stepped back from a hands-on role in Flight Centre and is a board member of Boost Juice and the Hawthorn Football Club.
He said he noticed something special when he encountered his first Boost Juice store at Westfield Shoppingtown in Doncaster and contacted the owner immediately before handing her a cheque of $550,000.
“I don’t know whether it was an intelligent move on my part,” he said.
“But I just knew it would work.”
