Kings for a day

IAN Lidstone and Steve Wallace produced two excellent rounds to win the King Trophy for 2010 at Garfield Golf Club on Saturday.
In the first round last week the pair recorded a 65 1/2 and were able to back this up with a 68 1/2 this week for a total of 134.
Les King presented the trophy on behalf of the King family that has sponsored this event for many years.
Steve thanked his playing partners over the 2 weeks and Ian described what an honour it was to win the trophy considering the long and close association he has with the King family.
Ron Norton and Tom Griffiths recorded the best score of the day with 651/2.

The overflow event was Stableford and the winner of A-grade was Jackson Wade (handicap seven) with 40 points.
B-grade was Rob Calderara (15) and C-grade was won by Gerry Vandenessen (25) with 41 points.
Down the lines were won by Shane Tyler 40, Mal Hirt 40, Blair Lidstone 40, Chris Adams 39, Steve Fordham 39, Michael Ryan 39, Brian Potter 38, Jock Granger (Drouin) 38 and Leigh Noonan (Pakenham) 38.
The nearest the pins were won by fourth: Terry McLaughlin, eighth: Steve Kohut, ninth: Graeme Thorp, 11th: Mick Housin, 14th: Geoff Roberts and the 16th: G. Bjorksten (Drouin).
The ladies winner was Cheryl Lewis playing off 30 with 40 points.
Ian Lidstone took out the double and also won the weekly raffle.

This was a Stableford event with Laurie Begg coming out on top with 42 points. Runner-up was Mick Housin with 40 points.
Down the lines were Peter Johnson 40, David Thorp 39 and Bill Church 39.
Nearest the pins were – ninth: Noel Needham, 11th: Peter Johnson, 14th: Cec Manser and the 16th: Harry Mathews.
James Grant won the twilight event with 20 points and runner-up was Peter Carmody with 19 points.
The lucky draw and the nearest the pin on the 14th was won by A. Stow from Pakenham.
