Team steps out for life

THE ‘All Our People’ Relay for Life team is stepping up their fund-raising efforts with an auction on Saturday night.
The Pakenham group hopes to raise more than $12,000 with a fund-raising auction at the Pakenham Football Pavilion to donate to The Cancer Council.
Items to go under the hammer include water tanks, sports memorabilia, plants, travel and accommodation vouchers, power tools and jewellery – all donated by more than 60 local businesses.
The ‘All Our People’ team have run the auction for the past five years to raise money for their Relay for Life team. The team of seven also hold other fund-raisers throughout the year including sausage sizzles, garage sales and shopping tours which has seen them raise more than $20,000 in previous years.
Team member George Single said they do the fund-raisers in memory of their friend Don Stevens, who sadly passed away from cancer.
Mr Single encouraged people to come along to the auction and support their worthy cause.
“Anybody can be touched by cancer and we all know somebody who has been,” he said.
“While we can’t bring back our loved ones, we can help put money into research to hopefully lessen the trauma for other families.”
‘All Our People’ will participate in the Casey Cardinia Relay for Life at Akoonah Park, Berwick, on 12 and 13 March.
The fundraising auction will be held on Saturday 27 February from 7.30pm.
Cost is $10 per person, bring-your-own nibbles, and drinks are available at bar prices.
For tickets call Helen on 5941 2679 or Sue on 5940 2278.
Tickets are also available on the night.
