Titans push for finals

By Gavin Staindl
A 10-0 win to the Titans over lowly Dilligafs has them only three percentage points behind the fourth-placed Squishees in the race to the Pakenham Floorball League finals.
With the remaining matches to be played this Thursday night the situation is simple for the Titans – beat their opposition by more than what the Squishees beat theirs and advance to finals.
Looking to gain as much percentage as possible against the Dilligafs, the Titans attacked through Ash Johnson (five goals) and Ray Staindl (two goals) while also restricting the Dilligafs from scoring.
For a brief moment, the Titans sat in fourth position by one-10th of a percentage point but a 4-1 win to the Squishees over the Legends two games later saw the reigning premiers jump back into the top four.
Squishees captain Ben Monckton scored the opening goal but that was quickly answered by Legends’ midfielder Paul Hogg who lasered in a slap shot from half court.
The Squishees can consider themselves fortunate after the remaining three goals came as a result of deflections and own goals.
In the other match, Jeremy Monckton scored 10 goals and handed off three assists in the Tropicals 17-2 smashing over the Blackjacks.
