SURF lessons were the highlight of Bunyip Scouts 6th Annual Beach Weekend in Rye.
Scouts and leaders were up early on Saturday morning and at Shoreham Beach by 9am for lesson with Mornington Peninsula Surf School.
Before taking to the half metre swell, the instructors taught the participants some manoeuvres on land to introduce them to the art of surfing and techniques on standing up.
The scouts and leaders headed into the water for two hours of crashing, falling and surfing fun.
The group then spent the afternoon at Rye Beach where they swam, built sand castles, played beach cricket and jumped off the pier.
The busy Saturday was finished off with fish and chips for dinner and a movie.
On Sunday the group went to Enchanted Maze at Arthur’s Seat.
The Scouts were let loose in the Hedge Maze, Lawn Maze and Maize Maze before leaders rounded the 14 scouts up to go home to their Bunyip base.
