THE Cardinia Civic Concert Band will take to the stage at this year’s Pakenham Agricultural Show, playing an array of music to suit everyone. About 30 members of the band, aged from 8-years-old up to 80 years, will play a variety of music including rock, swing, classical and light rock.
The band has been around for more than 100 years and has members from all over the Cardinia Shire including Cockatoo, Emerald, Lang Lang and Pakenham.
Musical director Kim Thomsen said playing at local community events such as the Pakenham Show was a great honour for the band members.
“We rehearse to perform,” Ms Thomsen said.
“Particularly performing in our own shire and to the general public is the highest reward.
“We are contributing to the arts in the area”
The band members are no strangers to community festivals having also performed their music at events including the Berwick Show, Yakkerboo, Kooweerup Potato Festival, Anzac Day, Australia Day and Carols by Candlelight.
She encouraged people to come and watch their performance on the Pakenham Agricultural Show stage at 11am on Saturday 20 March.
“Come along and show you support for local musicians and local artists,” she said.
