All categories well represented

A LARGER yarding this week at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, for the Fat Cattle Market saw 991 head penned, which contained a good representation of all categories.
Demand was high and kept buyers and agents busy with prices reaching up to 234.2 cents. A smaller penning of 122 bullocks made to 184.2; weights and condition were excellent.
One hundred and thirty six heifers rose to 177.2 which was the same as the previous week, while 213 steers saw processors and re-stockers competing for quality cattle. This week 206 cents was the top price.
A good selection of both heavy and light vealers made for a very good sale and vendors were not disappointed, with light veal making to 224.6 cents and heavy veal to 230.2. These prices were on a par to last week.
On Thursday, bulls remained steady on last week’s prices, with no change. The 27 bulls ranged from 165 cents.
Better cows sold to better rates to top at 168.6. Five hundred and sixty four cows were yarded. Store and lighter cows sold to good demand from re-stockers and processors.
