Let another big season begin

MORNINGTON Peninsula Nepean Football League clubs are always full of anticipation on the eve of a new year and it is with excitement that, on behalf of the MPNFL board of directors, I welcome every football follower across the Casey Cardinia region to the 2010 season.
Last year was another successful one for the MPNFL, in particular the Casey Cardinia League.
All clubs embraced their netball and football with the passion that has become synonymous with the fast-growing community and an even more vibrant and competitive season in both sports looms this year.
Clubs weathered the challenges of the world economic crisis with the determination expected within the league, and envied by other clubs and leagues across the VCFL.
The administration of our football clubs and league is a source of great pride to the MPNFL and the financial responsibility demonstrated in regard to player payments and operation of social facilities makes many other competitions look second rate. The lesson is that short-term fixes do not work and Casey Cardinia League clubs have learned that well.
There will be no change to the 11-club Casey Cardinia League this season however the MPNFL has decided that there will be no bye in either that or the Nepean league in 2011. Steps will be taken to achieve that aim with the movement of clubs between leagues one of the options.
The other key platform of 2010 will be a focus on the behaviour of all persons representing the MPNFL. Guidelines applying to all clubs, members and associates are being developed and will be implemented across the MPNFL this year, with the support of all involved expected.
Good luck to all clubs and players for another exciting and successful year of football and netball.

– Tony Vagg,
Chairman MPNFL.
