Young gunsloaded and ready to fire

THE rising young stars of Casey Cardinia League football and netball will again vie for the competition’s prestigious Pakenham Gazette Young Gun and Young Netball Star awards in 2010.
Throughout the season the most promising young footballers coming through the ranks and performing well at senior level will be eligible for nomination by their club or by league officials and then added to the list of candidates to be selected as one of six finalists for the award.
Last season there were several outstanding candidates, but the ultimate 2009 winner, Cranbourne wingman Ryan Jones, was an absolute standout.
A player will be nominated every four weeks with the overall winner being announced at the MPNFL vote count dinner in September.
The Young Gun award was an initiative of the Pakenham Gazette and is now recognised as an important acknowledgment of junior talent across the MPNFL.
Similarly, the Casey Cardinia Netball League is full of super-talented juniors on their way up to stardom.
Six promising players from the clubs’ junior ranks will be nominated and at the end of the year a player from the nominated group will be selected as the season’s Star News Group 2010 Netball Star and presented with an award at the league’s annual netball vote count night.
