Cats need nine lives

By Melissa Meehan
THREE felines have disappeared in as many days in Pakenham.
Two residents in Brooke Court and Acre Court say their cats have gone missing and are worried people are targeting felines in the area.
Carole Robertson said her ginger moggy ‘Ginge’ went missing on Saturday when he failed to come home for a feed.
She then did a letter drop asking if anyone had seen him and soon learned Melissa Macumber was also missing her two furry friends.
“That’s three cats that have gone missing in three houses,” she said.
“I’ve checked the pound, vets and shelters – there are no cats on the road – I just don’t know what happened.”
Ms Robertson said she was worried that someone who didn’t like cats had taken him.
Ms Macumber said her two cats, ‘Summer’ and ‘Fatty’, had never gone missing before.
“Summer went missing on Saturday and a couple of days later so did Fatty,” she said.
“I have no idea what is happening, but one of our neighbour’s cats has a scrape across its neck – so maybe people are setting traps or something like that.
“All I know is that my three kids are missing our cats terribly.”
Other residents reported similar incidents in Lang Lang six months ago.
Anyone with information concerning the missing cats can contact the police or the council.
