Garfield rivalry continues

Golf Club last Saturday when
members played the annual
top town’s team event with
groups of four playing a stable
ford event for the title.
The winning team was Ron
Fielding with 43 points, Lou
Milner with 40, Paul Kaye on
38 and Glen Wells on 36.
A Grade went to John Elliot
(12) 43, B Grade to Ron Field
ing (19) 43 and C Grade to
Mick Adkin (30) 44.
Nearest the pins went to
Darren Mouser (fourth), Ron
Norton (eighth), Mark Kelly
(ninth), Glen Wells (11), Terry
Webster (14) and Brian Wade
son (16).
The second shot in on the
fifth went to Mark Kelly and
on the seventh to Peter Skin
ner.
Down the lines went to

40 and Les King 40.
The women’s winner was
Debra Winter (33) with 40
points.
Don Smith had an eagle on
the 15th but was a bit unlucky
as the eagle’s nest went off last
week.
Thursday’s game was also
a stableford event and some
good scores were recorded on
the back of the new handicap
system. The winner with 44
points and playing off a handi
cap of 19 was Trevor Burnie,
runner-up was David Thorp
(19) 43, down the lines went to
John Reddish (28) 43 and
George Gray (28) 42.
Nearest the pins were
awarded to Daniel Raines
(fourth), Les King (ninth),
Tony Elliot (11) and David
Thorp (16).
Next Saturday is a par
event. This Friday night the
club is running a night golf
completion over five holes in
the format of an ambrose
event and a par 3 shoot-out.
There will be a barbecue
tea and a wine and cheese tast
ing to follow, the cost of the
golf is $7 and the night begins
at 6.30.
All teams need to bring a
torch.
