THE Fat Cattle sale last week at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, saw less than half of the previous week’s total yarding, with prices fluctuating across all categories.
Good quality vealers were in limited numbers, with larger numbers of store calves.
Thirty eight bullocks of good quality slipped to 170.5 cents, only two cents easier, with prices ranging from 144.2 cents to 180 cents.
Fifty nine heifers saw processors and restockers lift the average seven cents to 159.6 cents, with a good range of 116 cents to 187.2 cents.
One hundred and twenty three steers sold well to rise seven cents also to 175.4 cents, no light sub 300 kilogram steers were offered and a range of 118.6 cents to 190 cents was the result.
Two hundred and fifty veal containing pen lots of stores, managed to ease slightly.
This was mainly due to quality and size, heavy veal made from 116.2 cents to 227.6 cents and light 125.2 cents to 201.6 cents.
Twenty four bulls on Thursday rose nine cents to 151.3 cents, quality was good in the top end, returning a range of 115.2 cents to 176.6 cents. Five hundred and eighteen cows all but stood still, easing half a cent to 127.6 cents.
Weight and condition was better with the per head price up $17, and average weight for the sale was five kilograms heavier.
Cows made from a 40 cent low to 165.2 cents.
