Casey Cardinia league review – round 3

By Mark Gullick
ROC is still looking for its first win of the season after squandering a half-time lead to lose by 31 points at Devon Meadows on Saturday.
The Roos surprised the still unbeaten Panthers in the opening half and led by one-point at the long break.
“We didn’t play great footy, they probably out-played us for half the game,” Devon Meadows coach Steve O’Brien said. “We probably allowed them to play that way though, we didn’t play the way we needed to play.”
Devon Meadows started controlling the play in the second half and kicked eight goals to two to comfortably win the match.
“In the third quarter we were able to put a bit of pressure on and in the last quarter we ran away with it,” O’Brien said. “They probably ran out of legs a little bit.
“We just went back to the game plan and spoke about the areas that we needed to improve on, mainly the contested footy.”
Best players for Devon Meadows were Daniel Rigg, Jesse Dehey, Mitch Gersbeck, Steven McInnes, Russell White and Guy Chisnall.
Adam Read, Ash Comer, Neil Adams, Ben Tivendale, Dane Roy and Callum White distinguished themselves for ROC.
Devon Meadows now take the bye.
“We’ve got some challenges coming up, but we’re really looking forward to them,” O’Brien said.
“We’re pretty much where we wanted to be at this time. We can have a break this week and freshen up some sore bodies and get ready for Keysborough.”
