Footy is in the pink

EMERALD football and netball players are going to paint the town pink this Saturday in support of the fight against breast cancer.
For the second year running players will compete in the Breast Cancer Network Australia Pink Footy and Netball Day on 8 May.
Many of the participants have been affected in some way by breast cancer and found last year’s event was a great way to show their support to the Pink Lady.
Footballers will wear pink armbands and netballers will wear pink T-shirts, while the traditional red match ball will be swapped for a pink ball.
The canteen will sell pink iced cakes, pink musk sticks and pink iced doughnuts.
Club secretary Robyn Kuys said it was a great opportunity for the whole community to put on a show of support for women affected by breast cancer.
“We hope that everyone will come down and cheer on the teams as they play in support of friends, families and loved ones affected by breast cancer,” she said.
Money raised from the purchase of the pink game day ball will go directly to BCNA to support its work in ensuring women diagnosed with breast cancer are provided with the very best information, services and support possible, no matter who they are or where they live.
Emerald will play against Seville on Saturday 8 May.
Netball starts at 12 noon at Emerald Secondary College; and the footy kicks off at 2.15pm at Chandler Reserve, Avonsleigh.
