Sorrento stays on target

TOP-OF-THE-TABLE Sorrento destroyed fierce Nepean League rival Frankston by 83 points in a one-sided match on Saturday, sealing itself as the league’s red-hot premiership favourite.

Rye downed Red Hill by six points in the close game of the round with ex-Richmond forward Steve Ryan snaring five goals in a see-sawing game.
The other games in round six went the way of Somerville by 28 points over Tyabb, Rosebud by 38 points over Hastings and Crib Point which upset Pearcedale by 42 points.
In Peninsula League, Bonbeach had a 36-point victory over neighbours Chelsea with star midfielder Shane McDonald booting five goals in a best afield performance.
The upset of the round saw big marking Brendan Lade boot four majors to lead Karingal to a six-point result over reigning premiers Seaford, while Frankston YCW shot to the top of the ladder with a convincing 67-point victory over Mt Eliza.
Edithvale-Aspendale chalked up its second win of the season by 67 points at the expense of Mornington, and in the final game, Pines continued its good form with a 24-point win over a battling Langwarrin.
