Catherine Marson

CENTENARIAN Catherine Marson passed away on Friday.
Catherine, a long-term Iona resident, celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday 27 May.
She had lived at Pakenham’s Millhaven Aged Care for the past five years.
Born in Rushworth, Catherine married Harry Marson, a past Shire of Berwick President, in 1934.
The couple lived at Clayton before moving to Murray Road, Iona in 1944.
Harry was a councillor for 16 years and president of the shire in 1960.
Catherine played the piano and violin. She also enjoyed tennis, golf and fishing.
She was involved in the Country Women’s Association (CWA), Red Cross, Iona Primary School fete and other charities.
She and Harry were known across the district for their entertaining.
They had eight children – Pauline, Catherine, Margaret, Peter, Patricia, Francis, Anthony and Rita.
