New direction

TRUCK movements through Kooweerup and surrounds were a point of discussion at the township committee meeting last week.
The ongoing construction of the desalination plant pipeline has seen large movements of heavy trucks through the area, in addition to the already overwhelming daily town traffic of semi – trailers and double ‘B’s.
The committee reported receiving a number of complaints about dangerous speeding and the amount of dirt and mud left on the road.
Cardinia Shire councillor Stuart Halligan said a contractor had used suction sweepers to rectify the dirt problem and following an accid-ent between two trucks travelling in opposite direct-ions, the traffic plan for these vehicles had been revised and changed to a one-way circuit.
