CHISHOLM Institute will now offer a government-funded literacy and numeracy program.
Under the program, jobseekers will be provided with up to 800 hours of accredited training to develop the language, literacy and numeracy skills needed to get a job.
Chisholm will deliver the program at its Dandenong, Berwick and Cranbourne campuses as well as locations at Merinda Park in Cranbourne North, Narre Community Learning Centre in Narre Warren, Adult Multicultural Education Services in Dandenong and Living and Learning Inc at Pakenham.
Director of the centre for vocational pathways at Chisholm Institute, Anne Cosentino, said they were delighted to have been selected to deliver the important and innovative program.
“Chisholm’s vision is to be the catalyst for dynamic career pathways in our region, accelerating social and economic prosperity through skills and qualifications,” she said.
“This program aligns perfectly with that vision.”
Ms Cosentino said the program would cater particularly for disadvantaged jobseeker groups including migrants, Indigenous Australians, young people and people with disabilities.
The three-year contract will see Chisholm deliver customised and vocationally contextualised training to address the language, literacy and numeracy needs of those enrolled in the program.
