Light-on Beacy beaten

FIELDING a team with many regulars missing Beaconsfield had to call on Lachlan MacCready and Kane Worthy from the other under-15 team and boys from the under-13s, Tommy Glen, Brandon White, Haydn Cartwright, Tyson Buttie and Kristian Meade. Nathan Hawes celebrated his 100th game with the club.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 12 GOLD

Mud and puddles did not stop the Beacy boys from producing a win over Berwick Blue – by just one point. It was a close and hard-fought contest and last time these teams met on 2 May Berwick won by 33 points. There were many great passages of play out of defence and of running the ball down the wings Mitchell Hayes provided a highlight with a goal kicked over his head as he ran away from goal.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 11 BLUE

The Lions got off to a great start with three quick goals but Beaconsfield kicked the next five for an 18-point buffer at the first break. The Lions began the second quarter strongly with four to bring the score within two points at half-time. Great defence by both teams produced a low-scoring third quarter with Beacy trailing by one. Beaconsfield’s desperation for the ball was outstanding with all players contributing. Two late goals by Luke and Kobe sealed the win.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 11 GOLD

A fine team effort in some of the worst conditions possible. Beaconsfield loved the muddy conditions and continued handling the ball cleanly. Great early goals by Callum saw him return to some of his early form and he was supported by Joel Laycock with three. Harry and Jack continue to work well in the middle, with handballs and clean pick-ups becoming a big part of their game.

Beaconsfield Gold fought hard in cold and wet conditions against strong opposition but Cranbourne proved too strong and fast and broke away in the second half.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 9 WHITE

A goalless first quarter set the scene for another tough game with Beacy adapting to the conditions quicker than the opposition. A four-goal second quarter set up the match and with only one goal kicked after half-time it was a slog. Although outsized by Berwick Red’s talls, Beacy’s speed and ball skills showed through, as did its fitness and skills.
