CARDINIA’S traffic police have a new car and a new name.
On Monday, a burnt orange Holden SS V8 was delivered to the Pakenham Police Station.
And as of tomorrow (Thursday), the car will be on Cardinia Shire roads as part of continued high-visibility road policing by the Cardinia Highway Patrol (CHP) – formerly known as the TMU.
Inspector Wayne Viney said the distinctive vehicle would be seen across the shire, from Lang Lang to Emerald, as part of police’s emphasis on detection and enforcement.
“This will enable us to be as visible as possible,” Insp Viney said.
Sgt Nigel Atkins said motorists should avoid being pulled over by the new sedan.
“If you’re getting pulled over by this new patrol vehicle, don’t expect a warning,” he said.
“But if you don’t see it (pulling you over), you’re not doing anything wrong.”
