FORMER St Kilda player Troy Schwarze led top side Sorrento to a convincing 70-point victory over Hastings in an ominous warning to the Sharks Nepean League rivals.
Schwarze, in his fourth season as senior coach, booted five goals in a best-on-ground performance as his side systematically dismantled the young Blues.
Somerville retained its position as the Sharks main challengers with a solid 75-point result over lowly Dromana, while Rye had to battle a spirited surge before overcoming Crib Point by 16 points.
Other results saw Frankston comprehensively defeat Pearcedale by 42 points and Rosebud down Tyabb by 38 points on the back of five goals from Ben Schultz.
Frankston YCW replaced Mt Eliza as Peninsula League premiership favourites with a 62-point victory over the Redlegs in a one-sided match of the round.
The Stonecats dominated throughout and kept their opponent to only four goals for the game, with big man Brad Ulms named best afield.
Seaford underlined its genuine chance at a fourth consecutive premiership with a 51-point win over Karingal in the other standout game of the round.
