Road cash flows

THE Cardinia Shire Council has been given $774,720 of Federal Government funding to undertake road safety improvements along two council roads in Beaconsfield Upper: Gembrook-Tonimbuk Road, Gembrook and Leppitt Road. The funding was provided as part of the 2010-11 Nation Building Projects program.
The two roads have had a history of accidents, where vehicles have lost control and veered off the road or onto the wrong side of the road, or hit objects.
Some $592,320 will go to Leppitt Road for works between Toomuc Valley Road and Salisbury Road, which includes the construction of sealed shoulders, the installation of a guard fence and upgrade of advance warning signage, line marking and guide posts.
The remaining $182,400 allocated to Gembrook-Tonimbuk Road for works between East Beenak Road and Tynong North Road will go to the installation of warning signs, a guard fence, shoulder sealing where possible and an upgrade of line marking.
The projects are estimated to be complete early in 2011.
