Charity plaster

A PLASTERER with a big heart is needed to help complete a big job for charity.
The Cardinia Combined Churches Caring (4Cs) needs a hand to complete work on their new headquarters, on the Princes Highway.
About 400 struggling Cardinia Shire residents visited the cramped Main Street office seeking food, financial assistance and crisis housing every week last year, a 70 per cent increase on 2008 figures.
The spacious new base will allow 4Cs to store more food and offer budget cooking classes in a custom-built kitchen.
Fundraising co-ordinator Jack Mitchell said he had entered discussions with several plasterers, but most were too busy to take on the job.
“The boys have hung all the plaster, but we are having trouble getting plasterers in to do finishing coats,” Mr Mitchell said.
“We’ve got all the material that plasterers would need; they just need to come in with the tools of the trade.”
The charity is willing to pay for the plasterer’s time. Mr Mitchell admitted it was a ‘pretty big job’, with the ceiling of the factory close to 400 square metres.
The plastering is the last stumbling block in the project, which was initially due to be completed in April.
“Once the plastering is done, then the painting takes place and we’ve already had three painters working on parts of the project,” Mr Mitchell said.
“After the plaster finished then painting, then we can fit out the electricals.”
“If you are a plasterer and you would like to help, just contact me and I would be happy to have a chat.”
