Rapid thrill, as Di’s in clover

THE Pakenham Trainers Association and Pakenham Racing Club awards afternoon has again been hailed a success with approximately 80 people turning up to participate in the function.
The Pakenham Trainers Association track rider of the year winner Gayle Rowe said that event, held at the Pakenham Hotel, had become “very popular” and was “thoroughly enjoyed” by all.
Other award winners were Lang Lang’s, Di Clover who won horse of the year with Rapid Thrill.
Rapid Thrill placed in seven of its 17 starts during the 2009/10 racing season.
Peter Foster won the picnic horse of the year with Trojan of Troy.
Stablehand of the year winner went to the Julien Welsh employed Penny Thomas.
Michael Phillips took out the Pakenham Racing Club trainer of the year, while Foster doubled up his awards collection with the picnic trainer of the year.
Presently, there are 75 paid members of the Trainers Association registered to the Pakenham racetrack.
