Stock prices firm yet again

PRICES held fairly firm again this week at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, with a larger yarding of 522 head for the fat cattle sale. Stores sold extremely well again, reaching 257.2 cents and bullocks as usual sold strongly, with 90 yarded the top was 190 cents with the average unchanged at 181.7.
A total of 78 heifers also stood their ground reaching 191.2 to remain at 171.5. Weight was a little heavier with the per head price $21 easier.
Eighty eight steers did manage to slip slightly to average seven cents back at 175.1, but weight and condition saw the per head price $84 lighter than last week. The top steer price was 200 cents.
Two hundred and fifty five veal made to 244.2 for processor veal. The average remained steady at 198.4, stores still remain popular with all store prices in the 250 range.
Bulls followed recent trends to remain firm at 158 cents and topped at 180 cents. Weights were similar to last week.
Cows rose three cents this week to average 142.8, weights averaged slightly lighter and the top was 171.6. Bullocks averaged 175.6 and made to 178 cents.
