Earthy show a winner

WHO would have thought we would have all the excitement of a world premiere musical in Kooweerup?
Kooweerup Secondary College last week staged the debut of Earth Boy and the Mutant Ballerinas.
It had all the hype, drama, stars, cameras, autographs, glitz and glamour that a premier should have – the only thing missing was the red carpet parade.
The story, including music and lyrics, was written by the school’s very talented music teacher, Damien Mizzi.
The fun-filled tale tells of three comic book superheroes, the alien mutant ballerinas, as they arrive on earth in search of a missing necklace, which is in the shape of a brain.
They help their new friend and number one fan Sebastian, who the ballerinas call Earth Boy, save his employer’s comic book shop from closure as well as reuniting Sebastian with his true love, Jaynie.
Meanwhile, the alien arch-rival, the wicked chameleon, uses her evil magic potion to obtain the necklace in her quest to take over the world.
All the leading roles were star performances and the ensemble supported them brilliantly.
The scene with the colourful tutu-wearing cast was fantastic.
Mr Mizzi also produced and directed the performances with his dedicated team of co-helpers and the lighting, sound and backstage crews contributed to a highly polished show.
The students are the real winners of the production.
They each shine in their specific roles, either on stage or back stage, and the inspirational staff and parent helpers are to be congratulated for giving them the opportunity.
Now, if only there really was a magic potion….
