Bomb scare probe

LAKESIDE Pakenham was again causing a stir as police cordoned off the Princes Highway between Thewlis Road and Lakeside Boulevard on Tuesday.
Police at the scene denied rumours of a bomb threat, but said a “suspicious” device had been found attached to a ute on a tow truck.
It is believed the truck driver parked outside the Emergency Services precinct to notify police. The bomb squad was called in and at the time of going to print robots were inspecting the device.
Local CFA volunteers were alerted to the threat around 2.15pm and were told to respond to the John Street station only. This is the second time in two weeks that Lakeside has made the news; last week newborn remains were found in a Lakeside backyard.
