Kathy’s upand running

LAKESIDE Pakenham’s community group Lakeside Community Development Forum (LCDF) has welcomed new chair Kathy Burgstahler as founding member Jack Mitchell steps down from his four-year role.
Now in his 70s, Mr Mitchell has left his mark on the Lakeside Pakenham community, helping to secure early delivery of the train station, improving the Lakeside Village pedestrian crossing and setting regular social events and community fundraising.
According to Jack, the community will be in very good hands as Kathy steps into the role.
“I have a lot of confidence in her, and her enthusiasm is great. She’ll learn very quickly and she has got a beaut personality for the job,” Mr Mitchell said.
Ms Burgstahler said she has big plans to keep the momentum going in the community.
“I’m the kind of person who hits the ground running, so I have already got some strong goals in place,” Ms Burgstahler said.
“I’m keen to increase our membership and work closely with local businesses. The level of customer service locally has just blown me away, and I know the businesses would love to interact further with the locals.”
Lakeside Pakenham project director Sharon Coates said it is great to see such a strong community group continuing to grow.
“The LCDF would not be nearly as strong today if it weren’t for the passionate and committed local residents who ensure its growth and momentum,” Ms Coates said.
“It is great to be able to watch the bonds grow between the community members, with community spirit well and truly flourishing, thanks to leaders like Jack and Kathy.”
