Roundabout cash

A RE-ELECTED Brumby Labor Government will invest $3 million for a new roundabout at Emerald-Beaconsfield Road and Salisbury Road in Upper Beaconsfield.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said Labor was committed to providing Victorian families and businesses with better roads for the future.
“Labor understands Victorians are concerned about road safety and want quicker, safer and easier travel – which is why we’re committed to building a world-class road network,” Ms Lobato said.
“A future Brumby Labor Government will invest $3 million for an important safety upgrade at the intersection of Emerald-Beaconsfield Road, Salisbury Road and St Georges Road in Upper Beaconsfield, with the installation of a roundabout.
“As our local population grows it is increasingly important that we reduce traffic speeds in built-up areas and improve pedestrian safety.
“This will be a great outcome for the local community with the roundabout to provide an important safety boost.”
Ms Lobato said the new roundabout was in line with the Brumby Labor Government’s arrive alive road safety strategy, which aims to reduce death and serious injuries on Victorian roads by 30 per cent.
“A roundabout will provide safer turning movements for vehicles exiting Salisbury and St Georges roads and improve pedestrian safety and mobility in the town centre.”
