TOORADIN

TOORADIN openers Peter Stone and Mick Freeman made a solid start on a slow pitch on day two of the B grade clash with Merinda Park.
Spinner Brendan Fairlam came on with immediate effect, dismissing Freeman for 14.
Stone was joined by Adam Richmond. This pair took the score to 1/50 in pursuit of only 100, but Stone’s dismissal for 18 brought on a collapse, with Tooradin losing the remainder of its wickets for the addition of just 31 runs.
In E grade, Merinda Park resumed at 4/51 in pursuit of Tooradin’s 133. However, the Park capitulated quickly, losing its last six wickets for only 13 runs.
Ross Simpson finished with the fine figures of 7/16 from 17 overs. Tooradin goes into the Christmas break with three wins in a row.
Key dismissals included a fine catch by Dylan Sutton at point, a run-out by Nic Simpson and a blinder taken by Brendan Jones, diving full stretch at slip.
Sub-district
Tooradin defeated Cranbourne Meadows on the first innings by 183 runs.
Chasing Cranbourne Meadows’ 160, there was a good partnership of 74 between Kane Latham (35) and the greatly improved Shane Somers.
At 3/109, Jay Wilson joined Craig Dicks and they had a great partnership of 126.
Jay’s 87 included five sixes and three fours and his was a very controlled innings. Craig had a steady innings and showed great concentration in making 86. He and Daniel Quinn had a partnership of 84 runs with Daniel making a very good 49 not out.
Premier Grade
Premier finished the season off well with an outright win over Officer.
Tooradin scored 8/188 before declaring the first innings closed.
They dismissed Officer in its second innings for just 44. Ash Adams took four wickets in a great bowling effort.
Tooradin was not required to bat a second time and will take great confidence from its last three wins before the break.
Juniors
U/15
Tooradin Green drew its match with Kooweerup when play was called off after 13 overs.
Chasing KWR’s 157, the openers amassed 44 runs with Nic Simpson 12 not out and Andrew Proctor undefeated on 16.
U/15
Chasing Tooradin’s 6/107, Tooradin Red had Beaconsfield 1/29 from six overs before the rain arrived. Tim Lenders clean bowled one batsman to take 1/9.
U/13
Tooradin had a draw with Lang Lang and were probably lucky to share the points.
Chasing 7/88, Lang Lang was 2/60 from 17 overs when rain stopped play.
Mitch Simpson 1/13 and Trent Adams 1/9 were the pick of the bowlers.
U/11
Tooradin and Merinda Park had another good game in wet conditions. The best of the bowlers was Jordan Stewart with three wickets. All boys batted well.
