Numbers down before Easter

A MUCH lighter yarding of 122 head was penned at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, for the only sale last week. This saw buyers busy as they were keen to obtain stock for the Easter break.
Prices were still good given the smaller yarding, as all recorded small rises.
The average for bullocks rose 10 cents to 215.4 and topped at 220.6 which was five cents better.
Heifers averaged 12 cents up to 203.8 and the top was slightly easier at 217.2.
Steers jumped 15 cents to average 222, and recorded a top of 248.6, being 12 cents higher.
Vealers eased for the top price reaching 269.6 but the average for the yarding was four cents better at 231.1.
The draw for Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 April is as follows: 1, Elders; 2, Scotts; 3, Landmark; 4, Gibbon; 5, SEJ.
